How many times have you heard the name Harry Potter? Probably many times, because the books about Harry Potter, by J.K.Rowling, are successfully marketed throughout the world, including the Czech Republic. This Thursday, however, a new book is to be released by the same author named “The Tales of Beedle the Bard” and Czech versions will be published by Albatros. What does this book has in common with Czech children? All of Rowling’s royalty and net profits from publishers and retailers will be devoted to the organization named The Children’s High Level Group (CHLG), which helps children in Romania, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia and the Czech Republic.

Rowling co-founded CHLG (www.chlg.org) with European parliamentarian Emma Nicholson. This organization helps vulnerable children in institutions in Eastern Europe. Rowling said that “hundreds of children in institutions live in appalling conditions, and only four percent of them are complete orphans.” She also mentioned that she did not like the fact that Czech institutions are still using caged beds.

So what is this new book about? The book consists of five stories and readers already know about one of them from the last Harry Potter book “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”. The next four stories are completely new. The book of tales is mentioned in the final book when Albus Dumbledore gave it to Potter’s friend Hermione Granger.

It is presumed that the proceeds from this book will grow in large amounts. The Harry Potter books have thus far been translated into 67 languages and over 400 million pieces were sold. Worldwide sales from Harry Potter movies based on Rowling’s books have reached $ 4.5 billion. Hopefully, the new book will be successful as well and help many children in Eastern Europe including the Czech Republic.
